Pocket Tours, iPhone guides and tours

Pocket Tours

Pocket Tours was founded in 2010 and first focused on bringing history to life with the worlds first battlefield tour app for the iPhone. The app brings history to life by using the full suite of functionality available on the Apple mobile platform. There are currently 5 apps on sale but only three of these are battlefield tours: The Battle of The Somme, The Battle of Arnhem and The Battle of Flodden. The battlefield apps allow users to visit these historical sites from the comfort of their armchair whilst hearing from world-renowned historians exactly what happened, who was involved and how history was shaped. It is then possible for those that have the opportunity to visit the site and be guided around whilst listening to the commentary and seeing where historic events took place through the live camera. Users can also view photographs, hear original sound clips and see film footage to further bring the scene to life.

With the success of these apps, Pocket Tours daringly branched out; In 2013 Pocket Tours saw the launch of Pocket Tours - Shore diving in the Cayman Islands. This app aims to introduce divers to the best shore dive sites around Grand Cayman, guiding them dive site to dive site, providing them with all the information they might need.  Shore diving in the Cayman Islands is a far cry from the normal battlefield tours but uses the same pioneering capability and functionality of the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, just like the previous apps.

The latest app also saw Pocket Tours doing something a little different, working along side Hadrian's Wall Country and the National Trust, Pocket Tours launched 'Hadrian's Wall'. This app guides its users from East to West along the edge of what once the Northern Frontier of Britannia and is bursting with history and local information.

Keep an eye on our Blog posts as well as Facebook, Twitter and Google + for what's in the pipe line and what Pocket Tours is currently getting up to...
